The Journey Behind Hogs ‘N’ Heifers BBQ Smokehouse
My love for food started low — at single-digit ages, in the kitchen beside my mother, learning the basics of cooking with care and heart.
It started slow — with jobs in diners, cafeterias, and resorts from the age of 14, all the way through college. But even back then, the heat was always there. The heat of the kitchen. The passion for food.
Then came the heat of Texas — where I lived for 17 years after college and fell head over heels for real barbecue. I tasted every smoked brisket, every rib, every pulled pork sandwich I could get my hands on. And in Texas, I learned one essential truth:
If it ain’t smoked, it ain’t barbecue.
For over 30 years, that passion simmered quietly. I built a career in finance, but every weekend, every holiday, every birthday — I was behind the smoker, cooking for friends and family, honing my craft. My business trips turned into BBQ field studies, tasting styles across every region of the U.S.
Now, in early retirement, the fire’s been fanned into a full flame — and Hogs ‘N’ Heifers BBQ Smokehouse is the result.
We specialize in authentic Texas-style barbecue — slow-smoked, deeply flavored, crafted with patience and love. We use only the best prime meats, cooked low and slow to perfection. And our down-home sides? They’re better than your best food memory.
